     "Hosting The Patent Office's Patent Text Files on The Internet"

		   a new start-up presentation by
			   Greg Aharonian
	       Source Translation & Optimisation, Inc

		    Today, Tuesday, 1 February
			  6-7pm in 66-144

   Greg Aharonian, owner of Source Translation & Optimization (Belmont, MA)
specialises in the field of software reuse, technology transfer, and patents.
He maintains a database of information on over 15,000 computer programs
available from government/university/corporate facilities in source code
form, 5000 software patents, and abstracts to 100,000 technical reports and
jounral articles that qualify as software prior art.

   At the meeting, he will talk about his efforts to raise funding and
equipment to host the Patent Office's patent text files (80 gigabytes of
information on patents dating back to 1970) onto the Internet, a $150,000
to $500,000 project, as a prelude to launching a venture to build a very
comprehensive software prior art database for lease to industry.

on the broader subject of on-line services providing access to massive
databases, the e-club will host brewster kahle, inventor of the
popular wide area information servers (wais) system at thinking machines,
and founder of wais, inc, his new california-based company, later during
the spring term at mit.  read this list for date, time and location.

the e-club would like to hear from additional developers of software
and hardware systems addressing issues of distribution over
the internet, whether the goals of the principals are for-profit or
not-for-profit, and if their projects are closer to true-zero-stage
and they are looking for help doing market research, developing
business plans and especially in the general fields of electronic
publishing and document delivery.  send relevant correspondence to

next, a reminder note about the first meeting of my undergraduate
