CRS NOTES November/December 1991 New INTERNET Guides NSFnet and NYSERnet As the Internet grows several new efforts to document the vast resources of the Internet have emerged. The most well known continues to be the INTERNET USERS GUIDE available locally at TECHINFO.MIT.EDU (items 4 & 7). One new effort emerged at EDUCOM as the project "Everyperson's Guide to the Internet". The documents of the NSFNET Project available from the Merit Information Service host provide clear useful information about the INTERNET and NSFNET. GRANTS DATABASE UNC Information System Many computers on the Internet are offering computer information similar to MIT's Techinfo. It offers electronic mail to registered users, USA Today Headline News, an archive of Supreme Court Decisions, and a full text database of a variety of historical documents, such as the Declaration of Independence. Visitor level, browsing option is given for non-registered users. It originally focused on K-12 educators and students, but now provides visitor browsing options to the general public.There is information about shuttle launch schedules, shuttle payloads, astronaut biographies, satellite information, and NASA publications. It is used to support the World Ocean Circulation Experiment and is operated by the Ocean Network Information center.
